HOW TO SAVE YOUR FIRST $100,000:
-Break Down Your Exact Goal
No matter how much you want to save, give yourself a specific goal, decide on a deadline to reach that goal, break it down to the day, and THAT will give you immediate, actionable steps that you can work towards on a daily basis.
-Start Immediately
If you want the highest chance of coming out ahead long term, here’s the secret: You have the MOST MOMENTUM when you’re initially excited about the idea of trying something new. If you can capture this initial momentum – and parlay that into a habit over the next few weeks – you’ll be significantly more likely to reach your end goal.
-Budget Everything
All of you need to do is make a free account with any money-tracking platform, where they aggregate all of your accounts and credit cards into one interface – and from there, you can see exactly how much money is going in – and out – every single day, in real-time.
-Budget Optimization
Here, you can back on EVERYTHING you don’t absolutely need. That’s it. In addition to that, just calling and asking for a discount is all it takes to begin cutting down on your spending.
-Pay Yourself First
Even though this strategy won't work if you’re barley making enough to stay afloat on basic necessities, it DOES work if you have a habit of spending extra money, just because it’s available.
-Increasing Your Income
I’m in the belief that your best opportunity is by taking on additional work at your existing job. See if you could work additional hours, add extra value to the company, undertake more responsibility, push for a promotion, negotiate your salary – all of these could be phenomenal ways to make more money, without completely switching jobs.
-Investing
Even though short term returns are fairly unpredictable, historically the SP500 has averaged about 8% per year over the last 100 years. This means – over time, your savings will begin to compound and grow, doing the heavy lifting for you.

It works EVERY time!
I like the recent videos. I’m glad you’re doing these when you get inspiration for them rather than a super optimized schedule.
It definitely helps! I was close to posting up a last minute video on another topic today, but stuck with this…you might see some breaking-news style next week!
Speaking of saving money, the Valentines day chocolates are on clearance at grocery stores rn. Get the lady something nice
We always celebrate Valentines NOT on the actual day…makes it so much better
Graham is literally the reason why I started investing/being smarter with my finances. Been watching him for 4 years. Im now 26 y/o, and I didn’t know that I hit 100k until I sat down and added everything up 😂
Congrats man! I’m at $0, but not bad considering most people are 50k in debt lol.
@@jhoncena1111 Amen (its me im in debt, chipping away slowly while also putting into retirement)
My biggest problem was not having a plan. I always told myself, “I’ll earn a million dollars someday” until I almost turned 40 and my life was half over. After being able to see the finish line and realizing I needed a realistic plan I got myself back on track to retire with a decent amount, but I’m sure there are a lot of people out there who don’t ever have that realization.
Same thing happened to me. I worked and worked well into my 30s with no plan. I even saved money without really trying, but ended up spending it on toys, essentially. And then I eventually realized how much houses really cost and that I would never be able to afford one if I didn’t figure out a plan. Now I’m growing, but I wish I would have started doing this at every job I have ever had… even in my teens. Save a percentage of every check. That was all it took. Not $50 a month, or whatever, but an automatic deduction of a set percent of every paycheck. You do that long enough and you don’t even miss the percentage because the remainder becomes the normal paycheck you get used to. What was the biggest realization for your plan?
Im 32 and ive been maxing out my 401k with employer contributions at 9% matching. In total it’s about 32k between myself and employer that’s getting invested per year. It’s tough sending out that much of my gross income but it makes me feel better when I see my investment account go up thousands in just a single month. Compounding really starts to hit after 100k. Most people will say the first 100k is the hardest. If you have em employer 401k, use it especially if they are matching.
Thats the problem with everyone in life. People believe things just randomly happen at *insert age milestone * but never work towards it. Ive been trying to get people to understand but nothing. Our group of friends turn 32-34 this year. My group has gotten much smaller because old friends don’t like how much better im doing financially. Ive been investing since 18
8:34 I love this, last night i cooked at home instead of ordering take out and saved $45, so to celebrate i’m ordering take out tonight!
It also helps to burn your money in the fire, that way you won’t have to spend it!
@@GrahamStephan😂😂😂. I’ll keep that in mind
I’ll admit, i was sceptical.. However, this was actually very insightful & practical. As someone planning to buy a house in 5 years it’s also super helpful and makes me feel like i can surely do it. Genuinely, thank you!
Well Done. Glad you are back at it. The energy, the info, and the fun. Have a great year. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, you too!
Good advice! I save and invest $810/ week. It took years worth of work to get to this point, wiping out everything except my small mortgage payment. I would not let off the gas at 100k. That’s the time to hit the accelerator.
Most people don’t even make 800 a week to save so ur doing well already
Been watching these videos forever. Been saving and budgeting forever. Still enjoy watching these to keep me mentally in check
The first thing is to be tired of being poor and deciding improve you relationship with money, to start a new future😊
These are basically the steps I took to retire at 40yo. I lived like a broke college student for 10ys. I “enjoyed” my twenties but went hard in my 30s. I don’t live like a millionaire but I was able to start my own remote business and get to do what I want and travel. It’s hard but it’s worth it!
Graham! Great to see you at the ORAAT event! Thanks so much for coming out and joining the party!
Saving $100,000 isn’t just about money, it’s about mindset. The real challenge isn’t making more, it’s resisting the urge to spend more as you earn. Lifestyle inflation is the silent killer of wealth.
Gambling is even worse.

This isn’t another self-help book. It’s a manual for breaking free from the system. The moment I finished book Hidden Codex of Wealth, I realized how blind I had been.
Alcohol has got to be the stupidest thing you could waste money on.
